|
TWICKENHAM: QUICK LINKS |
|
|
|
Twickenham in Middlesex
is mainly known for the
rugby stadium,
but Twickenham has lots more to offer including the River
Thames, Eel Pie Island and some very good restaurants! And interestingly, Twickenham has twice the population of
Richmond...
Twickenham
has a good selection of stores in
the town centre;
including Marks and Spencer, Waitrose,
Starbucks, Boots, Superdrug and a myriad of great
boutique shops in Church Street.
Visit
TotallyRichmond for more information on
Twickenham and the entire Borough of

Twickenham Stadium
is the largest rugby union stadium in the United
Kingdom, seating 82,000 and the second largest
stadium in the UK after
Wembley Stadium and one of the key venues for the 2015 Rugby World Cup. |
|
Twickenham stadium is a great venue for music, and the RFU
reserves 1,100 tickets for each concert at a 15%
discount to residents living in TW1, TW2, TW3 and TW7 -
presumably to say "thanks" for causing regular chaos
with thousands of residents in the area.

Twickenham Green
is the surviving fragment of the eastern section of old
common lands called Hounslow Heath. During the
summer there are regular cricket matches, and it's
claimed that in 1905 England's greatest ever cricketer,
WG Grace, played on Twickenham Green!

TWICKENHAM RIVER CENTRE
The
Twickenham River Centre will be a key part of the Twickenham
riverside regeneration. With David Attenborough as its lead patron, the
Twickenham River Centre will provide opportunities for everyone to learn
about the river and the environment through hands on experience. Visit
the
Environment Trust for more information. |
